Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology , Construction and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.77%, while the MDAX index fell 0.80%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.92%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Zalando SE (ETR: ZALG ), which rose 3.32% or 1.06 points to trade at 33.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR: SY1G ) added 3.05% or 2.74 points to end at 92.70 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR: HNKG_p ) was up 2.74% or 1.98 points to 74.28 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR: HEIG ), which fell 5.80% or 10.25 points to trade at 166.60 at the close. Siemens Energy AG (ETR: ENR1n ) declined 4.94% or 3.00 points to end at 57.68 and BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR: BASFN ) was down 3.47% or 1.73 points to 47.97.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR: AT1 ) which rose 6.67% to 2.59, United Internet AG NA (ETR: UTDI ) which was up 6.49% to settle at 20.66 and CTS Eventim AG (ETR: EVDG ) which gained 3.08% to close at 103.80.

The worst performers were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR: TKAG ) which was down 5.78% to 9.36 in late trade, Rational AG (ETR: RAAG ) which lost 4.85% to settle at 784.00 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR: EVTG ) which was down 3.80% to 6.07 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were United Internet AG NA (ETR: UTDI ) which rose 6.49% to 20.66, 11 AG (ETR: 1U1 ) which was up 6.43% to settle at 15.56 and IONOS Group SE (ETR: IOSn ) which gained 6.35% to close at 25.95.

The worst performers were Formycon AG (ETR: FYB ) which was down 5.97% to 24.40 in late trade, Kontron AG (ETR: KTN ) which lost 5.43% to settle at 22.98 and Nagarro SE (ETR: NA9n ) which was down 4.11% to 75.80 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 357 to 256 and 25 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.83% to 22.81 a new 6-months high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.37% or 41.84 to $3,094.14 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.10% or 0.07 to hit $69.72 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $73.08 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.45% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 103.92.
