Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials , Consumption and Industrials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 3.12%.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF: PCAR3 ), which rose 18.89% or 0.58 points to trade at 3.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Cogna Educacao SA (BVMF: COGN3 ) added 11.94% or 0.24 points to end at 2.25 and Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF: MGLU3 ) was up 11.28% or 0.99 points to 9.77 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were CPFL Energia SA (BVMF: CPFE3 ), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to trade at 38.70 at the close. Automob Participações SA (BVMF: AMOB3 ) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 0.24 and Santos Brasil Participacoes SA (BVMF: STBP3 ) was up 0.08% or 0.01 points to 13.33.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 708 to 268 and 51 ended unchanged.

Shares in Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF: PCAR3 ) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 18.89% or 0.58 to 3.65. Shares in Automob Participações SA (BVMF: AMOB3 ) unchanged to all time lows; unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to 0.24.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.91% to 28.63.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 3.98% or 118.99 to $3,109.19 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 5.04% or 3.00 to hit $62.58 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 2.95% or 10.10 to trade at $353.00 .

USD/BRL was down 2.90% to 5.84, while EUR/BRL fell 2.94% to 6.39.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 102.71.
